Broncos Update: Wright to Head Home

Double Premiership-winning coach Kelvin Wright has informed the Brisbane Broncos that he will move on from his role in charge of the club’s NRLW team to head home to New Zealand.

Wright led the Broncos to the NRLW Title in 2019 and 2020, as well as finishing Minor Premiers in the 2021 season – as well as developing a host of players during his tenure who have gone on to become stars of the women’s game.

Wright informed the club this week of his intentions to return home to New Zealand to be closer to his family and to grow his business after four years at Red Hill.

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy paid tribute to Wright’s efforts in his time at the club.

“Kelvin has done a really good job during his four seasons with us and he has unearthed and developed some fantastic players,” said Donaghy.

“He has a great passion for rugby league, especially the women’s game, and we wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”

Wright said: “It’s been a great journey over the past few years and I’d like to thank everyone at the club who has played a role in our team’s success.

“It’s been an honour to coach this team and make friendships that will last a lifetime – seeing players grow and develop both on and of the field has been a real highlight.
