NRL Harvey Norman All Stars Auckland Flood Relief Support

The NRL Harvey Norman All Stars match in Rotorua has taken on added significance with the NRL, Harvey Norman New Zealand and the Nine Network donating $1 each to the Auckland Council Emergency Relief Fund for every fan in attendance to support victims of the recent Auckland floods.

The annual clash between the Indigenous All Stars and Māori All Stars men’s and women’s teams is being played in New Zealand for the first time, and the NRL has partnered with Nine Network and Harvey Norman New Zealand to help raise funds for the Auckland flood relief.

At least four people died in the floods after Auckland experienced its highest daily rainfall on January 27 and a state of emergency order remains in place for New Zealand’s largest city.

Severe flooding destroyed homes, roads and farms.

More than 5,000 properties are affected by the flooding, with about 10 per cent of those assessed as being uninhabitable or significantly damaged.

With the help of clubs, players, fans and partners, the NRL is aiming to play our part in the recovery operation.

For every scanned ticket at the NRL Harvey Norman All Stars event, the NRL, Harvey Norman New Zealand and the Nine Network will each donate $1 towards the Flood Relief fund.

The funds will contribute to the Auckland Council Emergency Relief Fund and will support people who are experiencing hardship due to the recent flood disaster and need urgent financial assistance.

The donations will go towards funding:

  • Items such as food, clothing and bedding
  • Accommodation costs
  • Extra financial burden due to the Auckland flooding, landslips and displacement
  • Family personal crisis
