NRL Touch Football Clubs and players across the country are once again being invited to take a bite out of the $100,000 Footy Cash from DoorDash funding grant.
Delivery platform DoorDash is partnering with Touch Football Australia for the second year running to launch a $100,000 grant-based funding program, allowing affiliated Touch Football clubs, their teams and their players across the country to apply for funds on a needs basis.
In 2022, Footy Cash from DoorDash received over 65 applications from every state and territory in Australia – all incredibly deserving and full of stories that showcased the community spirit that Touch is known and loved for.
DoorDash Footy Cash grants are back
Ultimately, twelve clubs received funding to support a variety of use cases including flood relief, upgrades to amenities, new uniforms, financial support for all-abilities teams and even fresh fruit!
NRL stars Ali Brigginshaw and Ryan Papenhuyzen supported the campaign last year, even delivering some of the grants themselves.
“Touch Football and community may as well be one word," Brigginshaw said.
"When you think of Touch Footy you think ‘I’m going to see my mates, I’m going to play sport, I’m going to get exercise which makes me healthy’... for someone like DoorDash to come on board and have people apply and give out grants, it gives clubs hope to keep going.
Ipswich Touch Association received the largest single share of the grant to assist with the recovery efforts following the devastating floods in February 2022.
“The floods reached nearly the second level of our clubhouse. Everything that we had on the bottom floor, we lost. Basically we had to start the rebuild. The DoorDash grant has been a godsend for us. $25,000 enables us to get back on our feet," said Dale O'Connell.
Until May 18, 2023, the Touch Footy community have the chance to have their stories heard and request a helping hand from DoorDash, who are committed to giving back to the local communities that need it most.
Being the largest social team sport in the country, Touch Football has over 700,000 participants across Australia, many of which are social and work-colleague teams. The social emphasis on the game has only encouraged more people to come together and reconnect post-lockdowns, with some regions seeing up to 20 per cent growth.
