Penrith have soared up the NRL's Power Rankings for Round 5 after their statement win over the Raiders in Canberra, rising an incredible eight places to sit second behind the undefeated Broncos.

Heading into their trip to the nation's capital with a 1-2 record, Ivan Cleary's side produced a second half masterclass to run away with a comprehensive win over the struggling Green Machine – propelling them from 10th all the way to 2nd on in this week's Power Rankings and leaving Ricky Stuart's side entrenched in 16th.

Penrith's rise has come at the expense of the Sharks, whose disappointing second half fadeout against the Warriors saw them drop from fifth to 11th, while the Dolphins' defeat to the Dragons saw them fall from second all the way down to 13th.

Melbourne's defensive resolve against South Sydney saw them leave Accor Stadium with a crucial two points and move into the top eight on the Power Rankings ladder ahead of their mouthwatering showdown against the in-form Roosters this week, who themselves sit in fourth place on the rankings.

The Warriors head into this week's clash against the Knights in third, with Newcastle boasting the equal biggest variance between their Power Rankings position and the Telstra Premiership ladder – sitting in eighth in this week's rankings.
