Jake Trbojevic has long been regarded as one of the very best defenders in the NRL since his debut for Manly in 2013.
Ahead of his 200th career game for his beloved Sea Eagles against the Wests Tigers this Friday night at 4 Pines Park, a look at some incredible defensive statistics again proves what a consistent, workhorse the 29-year-old truly is.
In his 199 games for Manly, Trbojevic has made a staggering 7583 tackles with just an incredible 239 missed tackles for a 96.9% success rate.
A further breakdown shows Trbojevic has a 3.1% missed tackle rate over 10 seasons. He also has made an average 38.1 tackles per game for just 1.2 missed tackles.
The stats further reveal Trbojevic has an amazing 97% tackles made percentage in six different seasons, including five in a row from 2017 to 2021.
The numbers would be even higher had Trbojevic not missed the 2014 season after suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle for Manly in the NSW Cup. He made his NRL debut in the final round of the 2013 season.
Furthermore, the 2020 regular season was reduced to just 20 games due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.
When asked about the incredible workhorse Trbojevic is, Manly Coach Anthony Seibold admitted in May that Trbojevic was 'not a normal player' when it comes to game stats, such is the tremendous work rate the NSW and Australian player produces.
"I say this in the right manner, he's not a normal player. He does things others can't or don't,’’ Seibold said at the time.
"With due respect, in the gym Jakey doesn't lift much. I can probably out-lift Jake.
"In the fitness test he's just okay, but in the game he's incredible and it's all in his mind.
"I don't think I've seen anybody like him (with) his determination, grit.
"Numbers are the numbers and coaches look at it, but one thing you can't measure is the determination and that's what you can't measure in Jake."
