Canberra's Simaima Taufa has been named the NRLW Dally M Captain of the Year.

A marquee signing for the new franchise in 2023, Taufa was appointed captaincy duties of the Raiders inaugural women’s side after previously leading Parramatta in their first two seasons in the NRLW.

Taufa led her side to an impressive first season, which saw the Green Machine record five wins, four losses and go two points short of clinching a top four spot at the end of the regular season.

The 29-year-old Jillaroos representative led on and off the field in 2023, averaging 146 run metres per game and racking the second most amount of tackles in the season (337).

Meanwhile, Taufa also worked at the club in operations and logistics earlier in the season.

Taufa's fellow finalists were Ali Brigginshaw from the Broncos and Titans skipper Georgia Hale.
