From Mal Meninga to Dean Lance and Ruben Wiki, the Raiders' Viking horn has been blown by an impressive array of Green Machine royalty.

Every one of them with a special place in the history of the club and with premiership rings to their name.

Come March 1 in Las Vegas and there's another man who knows a thing or two about winning rings who is in the mix to take on the key role of horn blower.

As the Raiders prepare for their historic clash against the Warriors at the home of their NFL namesake, the Las Vegas Raiders, the club is looking to reach out to seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady to lead the Viking clap.

Raiders CEO Don Furner revealed that Brady and fellow NFL great Rob Gronkowski, who stars in the NRL advertisement for the quadruple header at Allegiant Stadium, were the main targets for the role.

The club is also in contact with the Las Vegas Raiders about one of their stars becoming the next Viking Ambassador at Allegiant Stadium.

"There are a couple of lines of communication through the NRL," Furner told SEN radio.

"It would be fantastic to get a Tom Brady-like person, we haven't heard back yet.

Horsburgh: I can't wait to play some footy

“We are in communication with Las Vegas Raiders about two of their players … We would like it to be an American NFL player, that's our aim.

“We've had a lot of suggestions through as to who that should be, and if we get one of the Raiders players, that would be great. That's what we're trying to do now.

“Fox One are doing our game and Tom Brady or [Rob] Gronkowski will be a guest commentator is my understanding, so if one of those two are commentators on that day… it would be great to have one of those two.

Rob Gronkowski: Rugby League Expert

“So, I guess that's the top of the mountain, and then a Raiders player, a Las Vegas Raiders player would be unbelievable too.”

Both former NFL greats are no strangers to rugby league, with Gronkowski the US resident rugby league expert, while Brady linked with the Brisbane Broncos last year during his speaking tour of Australia.

The Viking Horn was introduced in 2017 and has become a key part of the Canberra's matchday experience at their home GIO Stadium.

Other notable ambassadors over the years include inaugural ‘horn blower’ Alan Tongue (Raider #211), former Jillaroo and Hall of Fame member Katrina Fanning and Meninga, who performed the honours at ANZ Stadium in 2019 before Canberra’s grand final appearance against the Roosters.
