Maroons: Tom Dearden takes the reins at halfback and lines up alongside Cameron Munster, the Maroons' new skipper. Bulldogs utility Kurt Mann makes his Origin debut off the bench while Kurt Capewell and Trent Loiero start in the back row with Jeremiah Nanai and Pat Carrigan moving to the bench. Ezra Mam is 18th man with Jack Howarth and Corey Horsburgh the reserves.
Blues: Five-eighth Mitchell Moses has been ruled out after suffering a calf injury at training. Moses injured his calf 20 minutes into an opposed training session in the Blue Mountains on Thursday and was immediately ruled out. He has been replaced by Jarome Luai, who returns to the side after being overlooked for Game One. Prop Max King will start the game in place of Mitch Barnett (knee) while Stefano Utoikamanu joins the bench. Rabbitohs forward Keaon Koloamatangi and Panthers prop Lindsay Smith also join the extended squad. Manly's Haumole Olakau'atu withdrew due to the impending birth of his first child.
