The Brisbane Broncos had a very special guest at their captain's run ahead of the NRL grand final when seven-year-old Ashton joined them at Accor Stadium.
With the help of the Broncos players and staff, Make-A-Wish Australia was able to grant Ashton's wish to go to the 2025 grand final and meet some of the game's superstars.
Ashton, who lives with cystic fibrosis, is a keen follower of many sports but the NRL is his favourite game.
The Cowboys are Ashton's favourite team with the Panthers a close second but he loves all footy and loves tipping the winners of games and telling his family who he thinks will win.
As part of his wish, Ashton attended the Broncos' captain's run and will be a special guest of the NRL at the grand final with mum Aleesha, dad Brent and brother Wyatt.
Ashton had a great afternoon at Accor Stadium and said the best part of the day was kicking the ball on the field and getting autographs and meeting the players.
He also loved exploring the stadium, especially seeing the training and dressing sheds, where he got to kick the ball around just like the players do.
Since 1985, Make-A-Wish Australia has granted more than 11,000 unique, inspiring and extraordinary wishes across the country for children with a critical illness. Make-A-Wish Australia is currently supporting more than 900 kids on their wish journey.
