Eels v Titans: Triple blow for Parra; Hannay keeps the faith

The Eels are back at home and will be looking to bounce back after going down in an Easter Monday classic while the Titans are aiming to heal the disappointment of losing a hotly contested derby.

Parramatta were defeated in golden point by Wests Tigers, in a seesawing match where they fought their way to a 20-18 lead three minutes from full-time, before two penalty goals to their opponents - firstly to lock the scores in regular time, then to win the game in extra time - saw the game taken from their grasp.

Already dealt two significant setbacks with season-ending injuries to Matt Doorey and J'maine Hopgood (both ACL), Parramatta are also set to be without back Bailey Simonsson for the rest of the season with a dislocated ankle.

The Titans were hoping to spring an upset against their SEQ rivals Brisbane in their last match and were making a good fist of the challenge, trailing 8-6 in a hard-fought first half.

However, despite the Broncos suffering key injury blows to Reece Walsh and Adam Reynolds, the Gold Coast could not rally in the second, with some basic errors and passive defence letting their opposition get over the top of them to go down 26-12.

Team News

Eels: More injury drama for Parra with the loss of Bailey Simonsson (ankle), Sean Russell (concussion) and Jonah Pezet (hamstring) causing a major reshuffle. Two-try debutant Apa Twidle is unavailable after suffering an AC joint injury so Araz Nanva will step up and make his debut on the wing, Will Penisini is back from a groin injury in the centres and five-eighth Ronald Volkman plays his first NRL game since Round 2 last year.

Titans: Coach Josh Hannay sticks with the same squad that went down to the Broncos on Easter Saturday. Jaylan de Groot is the only new face in the 19, named on the six-man interchange in place of Max Feagai who will play his first Qld Cup game of the season to get some footy under his belt after missing the past fortnight.
