Tom Duffy is on standby to play against his former Cowboys team-mates as Broncos halfback Adam Reynolds battles to prove his fitness for Friday night's derby at Suncorp Stadium.
Reynolds was a shock selection on Tuesday to captain the Broncos against the Cowboys after being ruled out by the club just 24-hours earlier with a groin injury.
The two-time premiership winner played just 25 minutes of last Saturday night's 26-12 defeat of the Titans and was diagnosed with a Grade 2 adductor longus strain, which the Broncos said would sideline him for one-to-two matches.
However, with his replacement Ben Hunt sidelined for up to eight weeks with an MCL injury, Reynolds has put his hand up to play and was named in the No.7 jersey for the Cowboys clash.
NRL Best Moments – Round 5
Jesse Arthars takes over the fullback role in place of Reece Walsh, who has undergone surgery for a fractured cheekbone, with Josiah Karapani recalled on the wing and Blake Mozer joining the interchange as Hunt's replacement.
Duffy, 22, has also been named in the 19-man squad and is expected to be drafted into the starting line-up if Reynolds is ruled out in coming days.
Meanwhile, Test stars Brandon Smith (New Zealand), Victor Radley (England) and Spencer Leniu (Samoa) are set to make their first appearances of the season in Perth.
Smith was named at hooker for South Sydney's match against Canberra in the opening match of Saturday's double-header at Optus Stadium, while Radley and Leniu will play for the Roosters against the Sharks.
In other selection news, Dragons playmaker Kyle Flanagan returns for Friday night's match against Manly at WIN Stadium after recovering from a head knock and will wear the No.7 jersey with Daniel Atkinson shifting to five-eighth.
Tyrell Sloan replaces injured co-captain Clint Gutherson (hamstring) at fullback, while Setu Tu has been named on the wing in place of the suspended David Fale, who made his debut in last weekend's 32-10 loss against the Cowboys.
Rookie five-eighth Lyhkan King-Togia has been dropped to the interchange after deputising for Flanagan last weekend, while boom halfback Kade Reed is also in the 19-man squad.
The only other change for the winless Dragons is a swap between Toby Couchman, who has been named to start in the frontrow, and Blake Lawrie, who moves to the interchange, after the pair swapped prior to kick-off.
Elsewhere, Eels coach Jason Ryles has called up Ronald Volkman to replace Jonah Pezet (hamstring) for Sunday's match against the Titans at CommBank Stadium.
Tongan international Will Penisini returns in the centres and Araz Nanva comes on to the wing for his NRL debut after Sean Russell (concussion) and Bailey Simonsson (ankle) were injured in Monday's epic 22-20 loss to Wests Tigers.
Bailey Simonsson Try
The Bulldogs have selected Bronson Xerri to replace injured captain Stephen Crichton at left centre in Thursday night's clash with the unbeaten Panthers at Accor Stadium.
Xerri has not played first grade since the Round 1 match against the Dragons in Las Vegas but after being left on the bench when Crichton was injured in the Good Friday clash with Souths he gets his chance.
Mitch Kenny returns from suspension at hooker for Penrith.
