After scoring more than 30 points - and still losing - the Sharks will be hoping to tighten their defence when they host a high-flying Wests Tigers.

Cronulla were out-pointed 46-34 in a high-scoring shootout in Townsville against the Cowboys last week with KL Iro scoring a hat-trick in a losing cause.

Coming up against a Wests Tigers outfit that have the second best defensive record in the league, Cronulla coach Craig Fitzgibbon will be hoping his charges are committed to the cause in what shapes as a tough encounter.

Wests Tigers bounced back from a one-point loss to Brisbane in Round 7 to post a strong 33-14 win over last year's minor premiers the Raiders, highlighted by a Adam Doueihi double.

However, the Sharks have an enviable home record, so the visitors will have to be on their game if they are to come away with the spoils.

Team News

Sharks: No late changes for the Sharks on game day. Cam McInnes is set to play a greater role on Sunday after making a successful return from an ACL injury last weekend. The co-captain will start at lock, with Jesse Colquhoun moving to the interchange. Billy Burns also shifts to the bench as Briton Nikora returns to the starting side. The Sharks have won their last five games against the Tigers at Ocean Protect Stadium. No changes in Saturday's 24-hour update with Braden Uele and Chris Veaila the men to make way.

Wests Tigers: One late change with Jeral Skelton moving to the bench on game day with Faaletino Tavana coming into the starting side on his return from a hamstring injury. Jarome Luai will take his place at five-eighth after an eventful week that saw him unveiled as the PNG Chiefs inaugural signing. Luai will partner Adam Doueihi in the halves, while Suni Turuva moves to fullback after Jahream Bula suffered a shoulder injury. Bula faces 3-4 weeks on the sidelines. Tristan Hope will wear the No.9 jumper after Api Koroisau was suspended, while Tony Sukkar replaces Kai Pearce-Paul (concussion) in the back row.
