Dolphins v Roosters: Fuller steps up; Savala's new role

The Dolphins will be out to continue a five-game winning streak when they host the Roosters in a showdown between two premiership contenders.

Kristian Woolf's men are riding high and have climbed to fifth on the ladder on the back of an entertaining attacking style of play.

The Dolphins have cracked 30 points in their past four games and crucially, their defence has also been excellent this season.

While the Dolphins will be without their Origin stars on Friday night, they will still benefit from the presence of Jack Bostock, Herbie Farnworth, Jeremy Marshall-King and Kodi Nikorima.

The Roosters will also be missing a host of big names, with seven players representing NSW and Queensland in next week's clash at the MCG.

Trent Robinson will still have experienced halfback Daly Cherry-Evans to steer the team around the park, while Kiwis prop Naufahu Whyte will set the platform up front.

The Roosters prevailed in a fiery encounter when the two sides clashed late last season and they'll be out to secure the same result at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Team News

Dolphins: Fullback Trai Fuller, winger Tevita Naufahu, prop Felise Kaufusi, back-rower Oryn Keeley and utility Brad Schneider step up for Origin reps Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo, Thomas Flegler, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki and Max Plath. Key playmaker Isaiya Katoa is in camp with the NSW Blues as cover but he will be released to play for the Dolphins should Mitch Moses be given the all-clear to play in Origin Two. Outside back Brian Pouniu and forward Sebastian Su'a join the extended squad.

Roosters: Daly Cherry-Evans will play halfback with Hugo Savala at five-eighth as the Roosters shuffle the decks to cover for their seven State of Origin reps. Cody Ramsey takes over from James Tedesco at fullback while Reece Foley and Egan Butcher are the new centres and Tommy Talau comes in on the wing. Salesi Foketi takes over from Victor Radley at lock while Benaiah Ioelu, Taylor Losalu, Rex Bassingthwaite and De La Salle Va'a are the new faces on the interchange.
