Tua-Davidson unveils next generation of Maroons

The future of Queensland women's rugby league will be on display after Maia Tua-Davidson unveiled her Under 19 women's squad for this year's interstate showdown with New South Wales.

The 20-player squad brings together a new wave of emerging talent from across Queensland's pathways, with players earning selection through performances in the Harvey Norman Under 19 competition, BMD Premiership programs and NRLW development systems.

Tua-Davidson will lead the side alongside assistant coaches Colin Wilkie and Matt Sanders, with the group set to come together in camp ahead of the annual representative fixture.

Last year's Harvey Norman Under 19 grand final has provided a strong thread through the squad, with Brisbane Tigers premiership winners Enah Desic and Loren Leli selected alongside Souths Logan Magpies trio Okalani Compton, Keira Rangi and Sienna Trew.

Tua-Davidson said the fixture was an important step in the development of Queensland's next generation of female players.

"These players are still in the early stages of their journey, but games like this give them a real taste of what representative football demands," she said.

"It's fast and physical, so it's a great opportunity for them to grow.

"We want them to enjoy the experience but also understand the responsibility that comes with representing Queensland."

Queensland will assemble in camp this Friday ahead of the clash with New South Wales at North Sydney Oval on Thursday, June 18, with kick-off scheduled for 5.45pm.
