We are past the halfway mark of the NRL Fantasy season and Round 15 is another major bye round with only your 13 starters counting towards your overall score.

Here are your burning questions answered and make sure you scroll to the bottom of this article for the trade tier list and a link to Part 2 of my Origin bye round article for recommendations to cover Rounds 15-19 as a whole.

Lone Scout’s Trade In, Trade Out Tier List

Specifically to cover the remaining four bye Rounds 15-19 check out my updated article on NRL.com as I went through a Tier ranking for each team and recommended trade ins, holds and trade outs, to highlight which teams and players are best to look at to cover through the origin bye round periods.

Please Note: Those focusing on just Head-to-Head competitions, especially those not playing bye rounds be aware. During this period the best trades and options will differ to those playing overall competitions during this time and, as most focus on overall competition, that is where the advice is targeted.

Fantasy Q and A

Q: Now that Ryan Couchman is MID/EDG and I have plenty of other MIDs is it worth trading Stefano Utoikamanu to Kai Pearce-Paul? Also, any cheapies worth picking up/downgrading this week? – Diego

A: If you are happy with your current owned MIDs, Te Maire Martin will be a great pick up for those needing a cash down option and a half for Rounds 15, 16 and 19. Just remember he will be unavailable for Round 18. Cheapies with sufficient job security and Fantasy relevance have been scarce the past few weeks and Martin is the safest and cheapest on the list. Latrell Siegwalt will likely drop out of the lists next Souths game with Latrell Mitchell due back in Round 17.

Tom Chester Try

Q: I only have nine players to score this round and nine trades remaining. Thinking of trading out four of Scott Drinkwater, Ativalu Lisati, Ethan Sanders (have 3 green dots in half), Heilum Luki, Tom Chester in that order – would you make any changes in priority? Who would be the top WFB available targets? – Adrian

A: I would put Ativatu Lisati as first trade priority as good WFB’s have been hard to find. Other than that, I would have the same priority list and try to hold Tom Chester and Heilum Luki if possible. Top WFB this week would be Isaiah Iongi or Jack Bostock with Jahreem Bula below these two. The issue with Latrell Siegwalt is that there is a likely chance he may not play with Latrell Mitchell due back after their round 16 bye so you may be using a trade for a player that will only play one more game for you. If able you could try to get KL Iro or simply play one short this week.

KL Iro flies over for a hat-trick

Q: Is KL Iro a good buy this week as he is a gun CTR and my other CTRs are on byes for the next two Origin periods? – Ayden

A: KL Iro is a great buy with strong CTR positions scarce this week, especially those who also play in Round 18 which is another major bye round. Last year, aside from Herbie Farnworth, Iro was the top CTR and if he can recreate that form will be a great trade in if you can do it without breaking the team apart.

Q: I brought in Jayden Berrell last week but was shifted to the bench last minute. Is that likely to happen again this week? Should I stick with him or cut my losses? – Dean

A: Since you already have him, I’d hold on if you are low on trades as either way he will still get minutes and points from the bench. However eventually he will be a trade so if you are short on numbers in other positions this week, you could move on from Berrell to gain someone reliable and in the upper tiers of my trade targets (see below).

First Take: Warriors v Sharks

Q: What’s your opinion on Ativalu Lisati for Te Maire Martin and pocketing a little cash even if not playing bye rounds? – Riley

A: If you already have plenty of EDG cover, Ativatu Lisati is now losing money and Te Maire Martin is a great cashout and has a fantastic negative breakeven so will earn plenty more money to come.

Q: Is Ativalu Lisati a trade out now? Looking at trading to Jordan Riki now that he is back or should I hold him? Or any other recommendations around the 650k mark? – Reeve

A: As above if you already have the cover in the positions as we are flush with decent EDG choices this year we can move on Ativatu Lisati. Bronco Jordan Riki has definitely gone under the radar this year but I couldn’t recommend fresh off an injury. If you are able to raise a little more cash, Siua Wong is a great price given his scoring ability, other options at EDG include Kai Pearce-Paul, Xavier Willison or Teig Wilton if you can’t afford the others.
