After climbing into the top following their sixth-straight victory, Dolphins hooker Jeremy Marshall-King said keeping it simple was their formula for success so far.

Although last round was a game where both sides were heavily affected by State of Origin representation, the Dolphins were able to adapt better than the Roosters without their representative stars, clicking into gear with eight tries to post a 48-10 win.

Marshall-King was one to get over the stripe and while he was celebrating their recent run of form, he wanted his team to continue looking for improvements – especially in defence - to ensure they kept up their winning ways.

“We probably didn't start the game way that we wanted to, but we knew they were going to be physical coming out, but it just shows as a part of a group what we are about, the connection we have,” Marshall-King said.

“We don't want to let anyone down and it shows in our defence, it keeps scrambling.

“You have just got to keep moving and you don't want to let anyone down.

“Those little moments can turn if you don't do it …”

All Tries - Dolphins v Roosters - Round 15, 2026

This Saturday against the Wests Tigers, the Dolphins are set to rest the majority of their Origin stars, with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo and Tom Flegler not named, while Max Plath and Kulikefu Finefeuiaki have been listed on the extended reserves list.

However as they showed last week, the depth of the club has come into their own, with players like Trai Fuller and Tevita Naufahu coming into their own.

“We have a mentality of next man up and I know for the guys coming in for us, it's a big opportunity for them to come and do a job,” Marshall-King said.

“We've got a great depth … it's hard with Trai, because we've got Hammer there and Trai does a great job and you love playing with him because he thinks he's 200kg, he's got a heart of gold.

“You have got all these younger boys that are coming in too, they are doing a great job for us, so we had a great depth and whoever gets in that position, they're going to do a good job.”

Jeremy Marshall-King Try

Coming up against his brother Benji Marshall’s side, Marshall-King said while they had to be wary about a team that rediscovered their winning form last round, his side had to continue doing what has been working for them so far.

“I think the biggest thing we've got to focus on ourselves,” Marshall-King said.

“We’ll have a game plan (around) them and see what they're doing, but I think the most important is what we do and that’s just playing the way we've been playing.

“The past six weeks, it's been getting us over the line, so I think a big part of our plan has been focused on us and doing the little things …

“We're not trying to overplay our hand and we're doing the simple things right.

“The game's a lot faster now and it suits us as a team, so six (wins) in a row and we've got to keep going.”
