As it happened: Classy Rabbitohs too good for Eels

Full time: After a scrappy end to the game, the Rabbitohs walk away victors 32-12.

76th min: Tallis Duncan has a double! This one comes off the back of another break after Alex Johnston jumped to intercept a ball and handed it to Cameron Murray to run 70 metres. The ball quickly heads to the right for David Fifita to use quick hands to find his centre. Latrell Siegwalt gets the radar right for the conversion. Rabbitohs lead 32-12.

73rd min: The Rabbitohs continue trying their hand at sealing the game with another try, but the wet conditions are proving too difficult. The game stops for Cameron Murray to receive attention after a heavy hit, but he takes his place in the line once again as the collective sigh of relief sounds from Blues supporters.

Debut alert: Dayne Jennings has entered the fray for his NRL debut.

Injury update: Jye Gray has passed his HIA and will be able to return to the field.

63rd min: Cody Walker holds it, holds it... and scores. Another left side raid has the Rabbitohs five-eighth loading up a pass out wide, but instead he tucks in under his arm and strolls through for his second try of the game. Latrell Siegwalt fails to add the extras. Rabbitohs lead 26-12.

58th min: The Eels get a chance to go on the attack and look to have opened up a space for Josh Addo-Carr, but he can't hold on to the last pass and the opportunity goes begging.

Injury update: Jye Gray is sent for HIA after a head clash. Latrell Siegwalt takes over at fullback.

53rd min: The Rabbitohs do it again as Tallis Duncan drags Sean Russell over the line to get a try of his own. It came two plays after an intercept from Ed Kosi at the other end. In the act of scoring the try, the replay shows Russell struck Duncan in the face with his boot attempting to dislodge the ball, giving the Rabbitohs a possible eight-point try. Latrell Siegwalt misses the conversion attempt from the spot of the try, then adds the extra two from right in front. Rabbitohs lead 22-12. 

48th min: The Rabbitohs hit back! Ed Kosi goes over in the corner thanks to some handy work from Tallis Duncan, who breaks through Josh Addo-Carr rushing up, then draws a defender and passes to his winger to score. Latrell Siegwalt misses the conversion attempt. Rabbitohs lead 16-12.

43rd min: The Eels are flying out of the gates after the break. Sean Russell leaps to grab a long bomb from Mitch Moses and hands it off to Kitione Kautoga, who finds Tallyn Da Sliva supporting up the middle to score under the posts. Moses converts to send the scores level.

Half-time: A strange first half comes to an end at CommBank Stadium with the Rabbitohs leading 12-6. The visitors were clinical in the opening 15 minutes despite light rain making for challenging conditions, putting two tries on the board. While the Eels did not see Souths territory for the first 10 minutes, they were camped at the right end for much of the latter part of the half. The Rabbitohs remained united in defence to concede just the one try for a well-earned six-point advantage.

37th min: Dylan Walker puts Luca Moretti through a yawning gap, who finds Ronald Volkman in support, but he's run down by Ashton Ward. But once again the Rabbitohs defence rallies to stop the Eels' attempt at a short side play on last following the break, only for Kitione Kautoga to kick the ball dead.

34th min: There's just no way through this Rabbitohs wall. The Eels go close once again after a set restart but can't find enough space to squeeze through.

28th min: After going side-to-side and going within inches of scoring in both corners, the Eels turn it over on last tackle when Mitchell Moses knocks on after receiving a tough pass from dummy half.

23rd min: The Eels get three consecutive sets in sight of the try line but the Rabbitohs scramble to maintain their six-point lead.

19th min: The Eels are on the board! Despite few attacking opportunities so far, the home side gives the CommBank Stadium crowd something the cheer about. A Ronald Volkman kick is batted back by Kelma Tuilagi to Mitch Moses, who loops it out to Brian Kelly to use his fancy footwork to bring it in field and he finds a way over the line. Moses converts. Rabbitohs lead 12-6.

15th min: Say Cheese! Brandon Smith sells it right, then steps out to the left from a play-the-ball 15 metres out to fool the Eels defence, opening up a hole for Euan Aitken to stroll through to score. Latrell Siegwalt converts. Rabbitohs lead 12-0.

10th min: The Rabbitohs are dominating the field position thanks to some clinical runs up the middle and strong kicking game. After holding off another Souths attacking raid, the Eels earn their first look at opposition territory.

6th min: Cody Walker slices through the first try of the game, taking advantage of the retreating Eels defence. Parramatta had earlier turned the ball over with another error at their own end. Latrell Siegwalt converts the try. Rabbitohs lead 6-0.

3rd min: The Rabbitohs go on the attack immediately after a Brandon Smith tackle dislodges the ball from Jack Williams' grasp of the third tackle of the match. David Fifita is captured at dummy half on last tackle and the Eels survive.

Eels: Jason Ryles has shaken up his forward pack in the final team update, with Harrison Edwards once again starting in place of Tallyn Da Silva, who reverts to the bench, while Sam Tuivaiti starts in the front row in place of Luca Moretti. Apa Twidle was cut from the reserves. Mitchell Moses is on track for his first game for the Eels since Round 11 after overcoming a hamstring injury. The playmaker will play his 250th match in the NRL. Moses' return will see Ronald Volkman switch to five-eighth. Jonah Pezet is also back healthy but he will make his return from a hamstring injury in NSW Cup.  

Rabbitohs: The Rabbitohs will line up 1-19 as named on Tuesday. The loss of Latrell Mitchell to a calf injury will see Latrell Siegwalt line up in the centres, with Tallis Duncan also filling in with Campbell Graham still sidelined. NSW Under 19 centre Dayne Jennings is in the mix for an NRL debut after being named on the six-man bench. Thomas Fletcher and Moala Graham-Taufa dropped out of the squad in the 24-hour update, while Bronson Garlick was omitted in the final team update.
