Billy Slater has made three changes to his Maroons side for the series decider at Suncorp Stadium on July 8.

Pat Carrigan, Jeremiah Nanai and Corey Horsburgh come into the squad while Slater has opted not to pick Roosters forward Lindsay Collins who has entered the 11-day concussion protocol after failing his HIA on Friday night.

Broncos skipper Carrigan played 48 minutes off the bench in Game One of the series before injuring his ankle in the Round 13 loss to the Dragons and missing Game Two in Melbourne.

Carrigan will make his 14th Origin appearance for the Maroons as they look to win the series decider at Suncorp Stadium as they did in 2020 and 2022 before losing to Michael Maguire's Blues side in Game Three, 2024.

“It was welcome news for myself over the weekend learning that Patty was available," Slater said of slotting Carrigan back into the side despite missing the past few weeks.

“He is about five weeks post ankle-surgery.

“Anyone that knows Pat Carrigan knows that he leaves no stone unturned in his preparation, whether he’s injured or not. He’s done really well with his rehab.

“If he wasn’t in this team, he’d be looking to play for the Broncos this weekend, so that's where he sits.”

Cowboys back-rower Jeremiah Nanai will play his first Origin since Game Three last year after making a sensational return from a shoulder injury over the past fortnight.

Jeremiah Nanai gets a spectacular double

Nanai was at his game-breaking best in the Cowboys' upset win over the Panthers, scoring a double and running for 100 metres.

Slater also said there was "no hesitation" to recall Nanai for the decider, saying he had done a good job before for Queensland.

“It was great to see him play well on the weekend, but I learnt nothing that I didn’t now already about Jeremiah Nanai," Slater said.

“He’s done a wonderful job for this team.

“He’s 23 and played 11 Origins already. That’s a lot of Origin football for a young man.

“He’s quite experienced and I know whatever role we ask of him he’s going to be able to perform it for this team.

"He’s done a great job for Queensland every time he’s played.

“There’s no hesitation there."

Raiders firebrand Corey Horsburgh is in the frame for his first Origin appearance since 2023 having been added to the squad at the expense of Dolphin Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, while Cowboy Heilum Luki also makes way from the Game Two squad.

The 20-man squad assembles in camp on the Sunshine Coast today.
