An entertaining double of Saturday NRL action, with the Dragons kicking off the proceedings by securing their second win for the season, downing Wests Tigers.
Centre Valentine Holmes scored a quick-fire double to help set up the 24-10 win over the visitors who were unable to bounce back from consecutive losses.
Next up, we headed to Suncorp Stadium to see if the Broncos couldsnap a disastrous seven-game losing streak.
The Sharks however were aiming to overcome some inconsistent form and they did enough to put away the desperate Broncos who have slumped to their eighth consecutive loss.

Sharks: Round 18
Full-time: The Sharks hold on and secure the victory, overcoming the Broncos for a 28-16 victory. They were made to work hard with the Broncos fighting their way back into the match late in the second half, but an error while they were on the attack was punished by Braydon Trindall who was able to sprint 60 metres to score. Winger Sione Katoa was the star for the Sharks, scoring a hat-trick.
77th min: And the fightback is shortlived, with Braydon Trindall putting a dagger to the hopes of Brisbane fans, running 60 metres after a hard pass to the head of Kotoni Staggs from Perham is dropped, with the Sharks five-eighth scooping it up to sprint away. He was chased all the way by Jordan Riki, so scored out on the left sideline, but Hynes was still able to convert, putting the Sharks up 28-16.
74th min: The Broncos haven't given up the fight yet, with Deine Mariner marking a remarkable return from injury with a try. Perham sets this one up with a fantastic face ball at the line, with the home side capitalising on a penalty. Duffy misses and the score remains 22-16.
Crowd: 38, 998 in the house to watch the game.
67th min: Great vision and call from Hayze Perham who called for Duffy to put in a kick through the middle, with the Broncos fullback chasing through to score under the posts. A good lead up saw Jordan Riki take an intercept to give his side good attacking position. Duffy converts and the score is 22-12.
62 min: The Sharks pull further in front with Will Kennedy stepping through some feeble defence on the Broncos line to score. Hynes hits the post with his kick and it goes over to extend the lead to 22-6.
56th min: A hat-trick for Sione Katoa, running onto a great looping cutout pass from Trindall. The Broncos defender were in-field and created space on the outside. Hynes converts for 16-6.
Sione Katoa 3rd Try
50th min: No points yet in the second half, with both sides being forced into a number of errors.
Half-time: Cronulla head to the sheds with a 10-6 lead in a half that both sides would admit was far from their best. However, the Broncos have shown some promising commitment in defence, regrouping after a strong start from the Sharks.
40th min: The Sharks get a penalty for contact on the kicker, but the attempt from Hynes hits the post back into the field of play. The Broncos hold them out with some committed defence.
Injury update: Brendan Piakura has failed his HIA and won't return.
33rd min: The Broncos are in the game and have their opening points with a classic dummy half try from Cory Paix who was just out from the line. Tom Duffy converts and the score narrows to 10-6.
Cory Paix Try
30th min: Josh Coric from the Wynnum Manly Seagulls follows soon after for his NRL debut, coming on for Preston Riki.
29th min: Burleigh Bears forward Luke Gale comes on for an unexpected NRL debut, replacing Brendan Piakura who has come off for a HIA.
23rd min: Another try to the Sharks and it makes for ugly viewing for the Broncos. Sione Katoa has a double after he purely showed more intent to get to a bouncing Hynes kick, with Brisbane almost passive in trying to field the ball. Hynes misses the kick and it's 10-0 to the visitors.
21st min: Broncos fans smiles turn to frowns as Sharks get a penalty for Brisbane being offside, after they thought they had gotten the ball back from a wayward Braydon Trindall pass. Instead, Hynes slots the goal and it's 6-0 to Cronulla.
9th min: The Sharks are the first on the board, with Sione Katoa over on the right after an error from the Broncos, with Grant Anderson trying to offload in traffic, with Billy Burns there to grab the ball. He runs towards his try line and passes out to his wing for the opening try. Nicho Hynes can't convert and it's 4-0 to the Sharks.
Sione Katoa Try
Kick off: Broncos kick off and the Sharks have the first use of the ball.
Late Mail
Broncos: Game day changes see Josh Rogers drop out of the squad, moving Wynnum Manly Seagulls lock Josh Coric onto the interchange bench. Earlier, coach Michael Maguire confirmed on Friday that Xavier Willison received clearance from the NRL to take his place in the side on Saturday. Willison suffered a head knock last week but will line up at lock against the Sharks. "The medical staff worked really hard to work through that and we’re fortunate to have him playing," Maguire told reporters in Brisbane. Deine Mariner is set to play his first game since suffering a gruesome quad injury in Round 9 and will line up on the wing in a new-look backline. The return of Gehamat Shibasaki from a knee injury will see Grant Anderson shift to the wing, while Hayze Perham starts at fullback with Reece Walsh on Origin duties.
Sharks: The predicted game day swap of Jayden Berrell who was named at hooker and bench utility Hohepa Puru has happened once again, as has been the case in the past when Blayke Brailey was unavailable. With Addin Fonua-Blake joining Brailey in the Blues team, Tom Hazelton replaces the prop in the starting side. Billy Burns will start in the back row with Briton Nikora in the Maroons side.

Dragons: Round 18
Fulltime: The Dragons have enjoyed their second win of the season after overcoming the early sinbinning of co-captain Clint Gutherson and the loss of Tyrell Sloan to storm home against Wests Tigers. Star centre Val Holmes scored two tries in three minutes to put the Dragons in front for the first time midway through the second half and they stuck to the task to down a frustrated Tigers outfit, who lost captain Api Koroisau with a suspected pec injury. The loss leaves the Tigers four points outside the top eight, while the Dragons can mathematically avoid the wooden spoon. The Dragons have a bye next weekend.
77 min: Mat Feagi has delivered the final blow to the Tigers after picking up an Atkinson grubber that ricocheted off Makasini's leg to score. Holmes converted. Dragons 24 Tigers 10
75 min: The Dragons have won their first captain's challenge since Round 4 but lost it just a few tackles later after Tu was penalised for pushing Turuva.
73 min: Holmes has got his second try after receiving a long Gutherson pass and stepping back inside to score. Holmes converted. Dragons 18 Tigers 10.
Valentine Holmes 2nd Try
71 min: Val Holmes has given the Dragons the lead after scoring in the corner and converting his own try from the sideline. The try was again the result of the Dragons shifting the ball to one sideline and then back to the other, with an angled run by Luciano Leilua drawing in defenders and he offloaded to Cook, who put Holmes over unmarked. Dragons 12 Tigers 10.
Valentine Holmes Try
68 min: A Madden knock on has given the Dragons a good attacking opportunity.
65 min: Api Koroisau has left the field with a suspected pec injury.
48 min: Doueihi has scored his second try after racing through to ground the ball just before the dead ball line as Holmes and Cook hesitated waiting for it to go dead. Jock Madden converted. Tigers 10 Dragons 6.
47 min: The Tigers have forced a goal line dropout after Api Koroisau grubbered in-goal and Stewart rushed to ground the ball.
44 min: The Dragons have blown another attacking opportunity after a forward pass from dummy half Jacob Liddle to Atkinson.
42 min: Tu has leapt above Skelton to tap back a kick but the ball went forward.
Halftime: Dragons 6 Wests Tigers 4
40 min: Holmes has kicked a penalty goal after the halftime siren to give the Dragons a 6-4 lead as the teams leave the field for the interval.
38 min: Tigers winger Jeral Skelton has been denied a try after a forward pass from Doueihi.
35 min: Atkinson has kicked the ball dead, giving the Tigers a 7-tackle set.
34 min: Sloan has left the field with a hamstring injury. Cook has moved to left centre and Holmes to the wing.
30 min: Another high tackle penalty against Doueihi has given the Dragons an attacking opportunity but Toby Couchman has lost the ball.
28 min: Holmes has had a try disallowed after an obstruction by Stewart on Doueihi.
Holmes breaks free
26 min: Tigers prop Fonua Pole has been penalised for a high shot on Atkinson.
21 min: Sloan has scored after the Dragons went coast to coast and back again. Starting with Sloan on the left wing, the Dragons shifted the ball back towards the posts before Dylan Egan batted back a Kyle Flanagan kick for Setu Tu, who passed out to Matt Feagai. The ball was shifted back the other way until Hamish Stewart sent Sloan sailing for the line. Val Holmes conversion attempt hit the posts. Dragons 4 Tigers 4.
Tyrell Sloan Try
17 min: Rookie Tigers centre Heamasi Makasini has been called from the field for a HIA.
16 min: With Gutherson back from the bin, Tyrell Sloan has moved from fullback to left wing and the speedster almost scored - but for a trysaving tackle from Turuva.
Turuva saves a try
14 min: The Tigers have lost their captain's challenge after unsuccessfully disputing a knock on call from the drop out against Starford Toa.
13 min: The Dragons have had their best set of the game so far with five-eighth Danial Atkinson landing a pin-point accurate bomb on the Tigers try line and Sunia Turuva being tackled in-goal.
9 min: Wests Tigers have built sustained pressure and halfback Adam Doueihi has scored the opening try running wide and carrying three defenders over the line. Doueihi missed the sideline conversion. Tigers 4 Dragons 0.
Adam Doueihi Try
3 min: Early drama for the Dragons with Clint Gutherson sent to the sinbin after pulling back Jock Madden as he chased through his own kick into the in-goal.
