Storm v Titans: Hughes, Meaney return; Tino, Jojo backing up

After stringing together three wins on the bounce against the Roosters, Knights and Raiders, the Storm came crashing back to earth in a 30-4 loss to the Sea Eagles before the bye.

The absence of gun playmaker Jahrome Hughes was sorely felt against Manly and the danger for Melbourne is that they fall too far out of the eight while the No.7 is sidelined.

All eyes will be on Origin stars Harry Grant, Cameron Munster and Trent Loiero from Melbourne and Gold Coast's Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Jojo Fifita to see how they come through Game Three and then whether they back up in a crucial game for their clubs.

If the Titans are to prevail they will need to overturn a woeful record that has seen them lose eight of nine matches at AAMI Park, their only success coming in 2014 under the captaincy of Nate Myles and Greg Bird when they snuck home 28-26.

Storm: A boost for the Storm with halfback Jahrome Hughes (hamstring) and centres Nick Meaney (calf) and Jack Howarth (quad) set to return. Tyran Wishart and Joe Chan slide to the bench and Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown goes to the reserves. Maroons stars Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Trent Loiero have four days to recover from the Origin decider and have been named to play. With Ativalu Lisati suffering a syndesmosis injury against the Sea Eagles, Alec MacDonald will start the match. Winger Manaia Waitere is also back on deck after an ankle injury. Oryn Keeley will come off the bench in his first game for the Storm after being granted an early release by the Dolphins to join Melbourne.

Titans: Maroons stars Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Jojo Fifita have been named to take their place after Origin Three. Former Storm winger Dean Ieremia plays his first NRL game since Round 26 in 2024, taking over from Jaylan De Groot who goes to the bench. Cooper Bai is back after missing Round 17 due to a concussion.
