Record haul puts Voro in mix for RLWC2026 Team of the Week

Kumuls star Gairo Voro has become the first player nominated for the RLWC2026 Team of the Week from the Championship after scoring a record 44 points for London Broncos.

Voro, who last week signed with the PNG Chiefs along with Kumuls and Broncos team-mates Morea Morea and Finley Glare, celebrated the deal by crossing for seven tries and kicking eight goals in the 76-18 defeat of Hunslet.

In doing so he equalled Bevan French's seven try haul for Wigan against Hull FC in 2022 and bettered Josh Addo-Carr's six tries for the Storm against South Sydney in 2021.

The Australian record for most tries in a match is held by Immortal Frank Burge, who crossed eight times for Glebe against University in 1920, while in England,  Huddersfield's Lionel Cooper scored 10 tries against Keighley in 1951.

Another Immortal, Dave Brown, holds the Australian pointscoring record after scoring five tries and kicking 15 goals for a 45-point haul for Eastern Suburbs Roosters in 1935.

Panthers winger Thomas Jenkins is closing in on another of Brown's record for the most tries in a season after crossing for a hat-trick against the Rabbitohs last weekend to take his tally to 25 so far this year. Brown scored 38 tries in 1935.

Cook Islands star Valentine Holmes scored two tries in his best performance of the season as the Dragons downed Wests Tigers, with team-mates Mat Feagai, Toby Couchman, Hamish Stewart and Dylan Egan also earning Team of the Week nominations.

Val at his best

New Zealand playmaker Dylan Brown and hooker Phoenix Crossland were among the Newcastle players nominated for their roles in helping to end the Dolphins' eight match winnings streak.

Tonga five-eighth Isaiah Iongi, who plays fullback for the Eels, was another player to star in Round 18 NRL matches.

Each week, fans vote for their RLWC2026 Team of the Week from players nominated after the previous weekend's NRL and Super League matches who are eligible for the 10 nations contesting Rugby League World Cup 2026.

Among the players nominated for the World Cup Team of the Week are:
