Jeff Reibel named new QRL CEO

Queensland Rugby League is pleased to confirm the appointment of experienced sports administrator Jeff Reibel as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Reibel will commence his role with the QRL in November, succeeding Ben Ikin following his departure earlier this month.

A highly respected leader within Australian sport, Reibel brings extensive executive experience to the QRL after serving as CEO of the North Queensland Cowboys for seven years.

His connection with the Cowboys spanned more than two decades across multiple roles with the club, during which he played a key role in some of the organisation's most significant milestones.

These include the successful transition to the club’s new stadium and the development of high performance centres, both of which helped strengthen the club's long-term future on and off the field.

During his leadership, Reibel also guided the Cowboys through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, maintained the club's strong financial position, oversaw the launch of its NRLW team, and supported the continued growth and impact of the Cowboys Community Foundation.

Reibel said he was looking forward to building on the strong foundations already in place.

“It's an incredible honour to join the Queensland Rugby League and contribute to an organisation that plays such an important role in the fabric of our state,” Reibel said.

“Rugby league in Queensland has a proud history and a vibrant future, and I’m excited to work alongside our clubs, participants, volunteers, partners and communities to help strengthen the game at every level.”

QRL Chair Brian Canavan said Reibel has built a reputation for driving sustainable growth while fostering strong connections across all levels of rugby league.

“Jeff is an outstanding leader with a proven track record of success in rugby league, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Queensland Rugby League," Canavan said.

“His experience leading one of the NRL's premier clubs, combined with his deep understanding of the game and strong commitment to community outcomes, makes him exceptionally well placed to guide the QRL into its next phase of growth."

“Rugby league in Queensland is in an incredibly strong position, and we are confident Jeff's leadership, strategic vision and passion for the game will help us continue to build on that momentum for the benefit of our clubs, participants, volunteers and fans across the state.”
