Sharks find their confidence on the road to Wagga Wagga

After claiming their first win of the season, Georgia Ravics believes Cronulla’s confidence was never missing, the team simply needed to unlock it.  

Following three straight defeats to open the year, the Sharks responded in style with a 22-10 victory over the Raiders in Canberra, a result Ravics believes has breathed new life into their campaign. 

Scoring a try in Saturday's win and amassing 139 running metres, Ravics said the performance was the reward for the group's unwavering belief, resilience and persistence. 

"We really just have to stick together. We know that in this group we have it within us," Ravics told NRL.com.

"We just needed to kind of find that and unlock, I guess, the star power that we have across the park. I think this week we really came together as a group, and that really showed on the field."

Having been with the Sharks since their inaugural year in 2023, Ravics has become one of the side's experienced voices and said motivating younger teammates has been a key focus during the first few rounds of the season. 

"Yeah, it's just a confidence thing," she said.

"At times things aren't going to go your way and that's footy. You've got to kind of get back to basics and get back to what you're good at and pretty much run hard and do your job." 

With the breakthrough victory under the belt, Ravics declared "our season starts now" as the Sharks prepare for the NRLW's second Magic Round in Wagga Wagga. 

"It's amazing honestly. It shows how far the game has come and to be all together celebrating all the work everyone's put in for the year," she said.

"It's really exciting. Hopefully we can get the job done in Magic Round [against Wests Tigers]. 

"We would love all of our Sharks fans to get around us and support the girls. They travel far and wide to attend all of our games, so it'd be great to see them there." 

With the competition approaching its halfway point, Ravics is confident the Sharks have turned a corner and can continue to climb the ladder. 

"It's nice to be back in the winner's circle. It's been a tough couple of weeks," she said.

"We're looking to build our season from here. It was a rocky start, but it resets now and we're ready to go."
