Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) Chairman Peter V’landys AM has congratulated Newcastle Knights forward Tyson Frizell, who will play his 300th NRL match on Sunday.
Frizell will become the 58th player to join the 300-game club in the match against Canberra Raiders on Sunday afternoon.
Commissioner Wayne Pearce OAM will present Frizell with the 300-game match ball following the game at GIO Stadium, Canberra.
“Tyson’s fearless competitive spirit is matched by his exceptional character. He is the kind of teammate others trust without hesitation and want beside them when the pressure is at its highest,” Mr V’landys said. “The high standards he has set each week over such a long period of time is inspirational and a high benchmark for young players.
“It takes resilience, determination and talent to play 300 games at the highest level. Tyson has shown all of those traits with remarkable consistency since his debut in 2011.
“Fittingly, Tyson has been awarded player of the year for both the Newcastle Knights and St George Illawarra Dragons, while also representing Australia, Wales, Tonga and New South Wales.
“On behalf of the game, I congratulate Tyson on this remarkable achievement and thank him for his contribution to the game. We wish him every success as he continues his career.”
