All fine in the spine as Tarryn leads Roosters revenge mission

After playing a key role in her side’s dominant victory over Parramatta with five try assists, Tarryn Aiken has her sights firmly set on grand final revenge against the Broncos.

The high-flying Roosters will have to overcome their biggest test yet to remain unbeaten but captain Isabelle Kelly said last year's runners-up are ready for the challenge.

“It’s one of the games in the calendar that you love to play. I love getting up for the tough games and I know the girls do too, so it’s definitely exciting,” Kelly said.

Despite outscoring their last three opponents to the tune of 132-24, the Tricolours still see room for growth in the lead-up to Saturday's clash against a Brisbane side coming off its first loss since Round 3 last year.

“Our defence is something we’ve really wanted to work on,” said Aiken.

"We were really happy with the effort tonight, (but) it’ll be a good challenge going up to Suncorp."

With the Roosters cranking up their bid for a third NRLW premiership, Aiken's return could not have come at a better time.

“She’s brought a lot of confidence within our side as a ball-player,” said Kelly.

“Her calmness and presence brings so much to our team.

"When you've got Joce [Kelleher], Corby [Baxter] and Taz [Aitken] out there and you're just flowing off them, it's really something that's quite unique, because you're not really sure who's going to pull the trigger, but you're just running off them and super confident with that.” 

Coach John Strange is also more than pleased to see his No.7 back on deck and combining smoothly with five-eighth Kelleher and fullback Baxter.

“It was good getting Joce and Taz back together and playing the style we want to play with Corbs at the back," Strange said.

“The connection between Tarryn and the rest of the spine was really good for large parts of the game. That’ll be something we definitely keep working on leading into the Broncos."
