The Warriors are riding high with finals confirmed and a top-two finish well within reach but the search for perfection is keeping standards high according to five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tavita.

A week after delivering one of the performances of the year to bring down a powerhouse Penrith side, the Warriors' focus never wavered in a 40-6 demolition of premiers Brisbane.

The result was even more remarkable given halfback Luke Metcalf's wretched luck with injury continued as he trudged off with a hamstring strain after 20 minutes.

Required to take on board more of the playmaking duties, Harris-Tavita stepped up to play halfback in style, but he wasn’t having any of the praise that was coming his way after scoring a try and setting one up and tallying 522 kicking metres.

“I felt comfortable, I had some great players around me, as I do every week, to get me through the game,” Harris-Tavita told NRL.com.

“I just really kept it simple in attack and tried to kick well, tried to defend well and the middles and O.Bs (outside backs) backed me up as well, so it made it easier for me.

“You can't get good field position if your forwards aren't running hard and if your backs aren't catching the ball on the full, so credit goes to them.”

After starting the game at fullback, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad stepped in to help the Samoa international in the halves, marking his fourth partner for the season so far with Tanah Boyd, Te Maire Martin and Metcalf sidelined at various stages.

However, Harris-Tavita said the whole squad had such trust in the system they had been building for a few seasons now, it didn’t matter who was named in any position – with names like Luke Hanson and Jett Cleary being thrown in the mix for Round 25 – he knew they would be up to the task.

“I think we back our system, we work really hard on a game plan that works, whoever steps in,” Harris-Tavita said.

“I thought it held up (against the Broncos) and obviously, there's a lot of things we still need to work on, coming to the back end of the season, but pleased with the result.

“If we want to win the big one, we've got to have a full squad that's going to compete every week for spots and be ready to put their hand up when we need them.

“Whoever gets picked and steps in, I'm sure they'll do their job.

“Everyone knows our system, so we back whoever steps in, simple as that.”

This week, they take on a Rabbitohs side who have shown great tenacity all season and have not been out of the top eight at any stage this year, despite a hefty injury toll.

“We've got things to improve on … and we're in Sydney next week, so another big game," Harris-Tavita said.

“I think we're never going to be satisfied.

CHT coming in hot!

“We're always chasing the perfect game and we know we'll never get there, but if we keep chasing it, we're going to get better every week.

“There's full buy-in to what the coaches have put in and the system they've put in place.

“We've got great leaders around the club that just steer us in the right direction at the right time, so it's easy to follow them.

“I think we're always happy to get the result we want, but I said it before, we're chasing the perfect game, and that's just the mindset we have regardless of the result.

“We're trying to get better every week.”
