Returning Broncos hooker Jada Ferguson is confident her side can turn their recent form around, with motivation high for their derby against the Titans.
After suffering a shock loss against the Raiders in Round 6 - their first since July last year - the Broncos then fell to the Roosters 32-20 after surrendering a 14-4 half-time lead.
Forced to sit out the game after suffering a head knock in Canberra, Ferguson is a key in for Brisbane side this week, with the side looking to bounce back against an in-form Gold Coast team who have climbed to second on the ladder.
“Obviously two back-to-back losses isn't ideal for our season," Ferguson said.
“It's definitely not what we strive for and what we want, but you can't really fault the girls and their efforts and turning up each week.
“I think we're great in sections of the game, and we just haven't been able to put it out on display for the whole 70 minutes.
“I think once we get ourselves sorted and complete those sets (we’ll get back on track).
“Those back- to-back penalties aren't good enough to our standards, so get rid of them and I think we'll be right on track.”
After watching from the sidelines last week, Ferguson was happy to be back in action for the derby and excited to part of the latest derby.
“Good to go this week, obviously, it sucked missing last game being at Suncorp for Indigenous Round against the Roosters,” Ferguson said.
“It would have been really cool to play that game, but 11-day stand down, can't really do much about that, but I'm definitely ready.
“I'm excited and keen to be back for this game, and what better game to come back than against Titans at Cbus in their home territory.”
On facing the Titans, the Broncos have the better of the ledger with a 3-2 win record, but this week face a confident side gunning for a club record seven-straight wins.
“They've done really well this year, I think they're young and confident at the moment and they're winning most of their games ... (and) coming second, so it'll be a really good challenge for us this week to probably put our best foot forward,” Ferguson said.
“I don't think we've played our best footy yet, and I think we need to start doing that now towards the back end of the season.
“I think if we just focus on our game, complete our sets and our (effort) areas, we'll be fine, we back ourselves.”
With only four more games left in the season, Ferguson said the derby was shaping as a ‘must-win’, with a top-two finish the ultimate goal.
“It's definitely a must-win for us,” Ferguson said.
“(And it’s) the Titans, it's a battle of Queensland.
“You really want to win that game and really want to play in that game.
“It'll be a good challenge for us this week and hopefully we can put our best foot forward.”
