Keebra Park State High School have claimed the Queensland Schoolgirls title over Trinity Bay State High School 28-6 in a tight final played played at Totally Workwear Stadium.
In a fast-paced game, Keebra were nearly over on their far left wing early on in the game only to be thwarted by some committed defence from the team from Cairns.
However, it didn't take them long to secure the first points of the match, with winger Zihade Laterre going over instead on the right.
With some incisive runs around the ruck from five-eighth Jae-Jae Wickliffe, Keebra Park were proving hard to handle and had the early momentum, adding another try to lead 10-0 at the halftime break.
Trinity Bay however had build some ascendency of their own leading into the break, with fullback Angela Nane showing her speed and footwork, but they could not capitalise.
Keebra were in again to start the second with a double to Laterre and the game was starting to get away from the North Queensland team.
However, they never gave up and were able get one back soon after applying some sustained pressure, but after that, Keebra Park proved too strong.
Following an extended break in play to tend to an injury, it was Keebra who were able to regroup first and took no time to get back on the scoreboard, with Isabella Prior adding to their scoresheet with her run to the line.
The side showed their flair throughout and were able to get the ball down for one more try, with Olivia Filikitonga able to make it over the line as the final siren sounded.
Next up, Keebra Park will take on Hills Sports High School who defeated Westfields Sports High School 16-8 in the New South Wales state final played at Campbelltown Stadium yesterday.
