How Adam and Millie turned the Book of Feuds into a romance novel

It seems the love of a Rooster has helped this South Sydney Rabbitoh get back on the field in time to help his club try to win a 22nd NRL premiership.

And who said Roosters and Rabbitohs hate each other? Have you met the Elliotts? 

Clearly Adam and Millie Elliott have no problem washing their jerseys and training gear together. 

“It probably doesn’t get touched by us because there’s no Rabbitohs NRLW side, so there’s a bit of a loophole there at the moment,” Adam told NRL.com. 

“If I’m at a game cheering for the Roosters NRLW side if they were paying Souths that would turn a few people off. 

“But we’ve both jumped around in our careers a fair bit.  

You’re kidding yourself if you’re not loyal to your wife or husband in whatever team they play for

Millie is heading for another finals campaign herself with the Roosters NRLW side completing an unbeaten season to secure the club's third minor premiership.

Alongside Hall of Fame prop Glenn Lazarus, Millie is the only other player to win premierships with three different clubs - Lazarus with the Raiders, Broncos and Storm, Elliott with the Broncos, Knights and Roosters. 

In fact, it’s Millie’s support that Adam credits as one of the defining factors in him getting back on the field earlier than expected after a shocking ankle injury in Round 12 and then an adductor muscle strain in his groin in Round 24. He had already missed the opening nine round of the season with a torn calf. 

“I like the fact I can heal quick because it means people aren’t telling me I’m too old,” he said. 

“I think being hard-headed, especially with the ankle. That was a big one coming back from that but I set myself a goal and got there. 

“Obviously it helps a lot having Millie at home because she knows exactly what it takes for a footy player to play each week. 

“So our smooth home life makes it easier for me to focus on my rehab. She gives me so much support in helping me get back and she’s a playing herself. 

“It’s broken her heart as it’s broken mine with the injuries I’ve had the last couple of years. She’s been massive.” 

Elliott is on the bench for Friday night’s elimination final against his old club, the Knights. 

This will be his fourth finals series with his third different club – Raiders in 2022, Knights in 2023-24. 

Since making his NRL debut in 2016 with the Bulldogs, Elliott has picked up a few new tricks in the rehab department that weren’t available back then. 

“Things like red-light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which all help me to prepare my muscles for training sessions and games," he said.

“It’s just the combination of all that – diving in and doing those things that I know help my recovery and that includes the usuals like bone broth, collagen and getting lots of good sleep.”
