Jersey boys: Roosters premiership heroes talk 'Important Stuff'

There’s a cardboard box somewhere in Victor Radley’s attic with the words ‘Important Stuff’ written on the outside in black texta. 

Radley is one of five survivors from the last NRL premiership won by the Sydney Roosters – the 2019 victory over the Raiders. 

The others are James Tedesco, Angus Crichton, Nat Butcher and Daniel Tupou. 

“I barely remember what went on in that game I was so young,” said Radley, who was a wide-eyed 20-year-old in his second season with the Roosters. 

“But my jerseys... umm, it’s really a question for (partner) Taylah... she’d be best placed to know where my rings are, where my jerseys are. 

"I’m pretty sure they’d be in a box in the attic that would have ‘Important Stuff’ written on it.

“So if anyone out there wanted to nick it all they’d have to do was look for the important stuff carton.” 

If the Roosters topple the Knights in Sunday’s grand final, Radley might have to find the box himself so he can place a third milestone jersey among the other contents. 

Tedesco’s first two seasons with the Roosters (2018-19) after six years with Wests Tigers, both ended in premierships and his first Dally M Medal in 2019.

“At home... every trophy, award, my jerseys and rings are at my parents’ house,” said Tedesco, adding he had no intention of moving it over to the home he shares with wife Maria and two daughters. 

“No I just keep everything at mum and dad’s place where it’s nice and safe.  

“I tend to lose stuff so I’d prefer it’s there – I’ve got too much at my place already.” 

Crichton’s first year with the Roosters (2019), after three with South Sydney, finished with his maiden premiership ring. It also resulted in a spot on the Junior Kangaroos tour of France. 

“I’ve got a bunch of old jerseys back at my house that I’ve collected over the years,” he told NRL.com. 

“I’m pretty sentimental about those kinds of things … tuck them away … but I do probably need to get that one (2019) framed to be honest. 

“I’ll definitely keep it – won’t be giving that one away – and hopefully there will be another one right alongside it.” 

Butcher already has a finals series souvenir of sorts - 11 stitches in a large cut above his left eyebrow courtesy of the semi-final against the Sharks in week two.

“I’d prefer another premiership jersey than more scars,” he said. 

“I think my 2019 jersey is in a box at the back of my closet. I know, I know, I need to get it framed because it does mean a lot to me."
