Kangaroos named for semi-final showdown with Samoa

Australian Kangaroos Coach Kevin Walters has named his team to play Samoa in their Rugby League World Cup 2026 Semi Final at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on Sunday (8:05pm AEDT).

Walters has stuck with the same starting 13 that got the job done in Townsville with a 66-6 victory over Cook Islands at Queensland Country Bank Stadium last Saturday night. The one change on the interchange bench sees Latrell Mitchell named in the No.18 jersey after sitting out the final Pool A clash.

“Samoa were very impressive in a physical battle which had a lot of emotion last weekend against Tonga and we know we are in for a tough contest on Sunday night,” said Walters.

“It’s going to be a great occasion in front of a full house at Allianz Stadium, and we’ve got to meet the occasion with our best performance of the tournament.”

The Rugby League World Cup 2026 is broadcast live and exclusive in Australia on Seven and 7plus, on Sky Sport in New Zealand and Digicel in Papua New Guinea.

The historic double-header at Allianz Stadium will see the Australian Jillaroos take on Fiji in the Women’s Semi Final before the Kangaroos face Samoa with an 8:05pm AEDT kick off. Tickets are available from rlwc2026.com.
