After being charged with a grade-two careless high tackle for collecting Parramatta prop Fuifui Moimoi across the head with his right arm last Friday, Bulldogs prop Sam Kasiano was found not guilty by the NRL judiciary and cleared to play against the Sea Eagles in Round 20.

Tonight on NRL Daily, hosts John Gibbs and Brad Fittler review the judiciary result and give their view on the Kasinao incident.

Gibbs believes common sense prevailed with the not guilty decision, saying “it was a complete accident”.

On the other hand Brad Fittler is concerned the judiciary’s decision is not taking into consideration the well-being of the players and their long term health.

“It’s not doing players justice,” says Fittler. “We are a smart species and research shows the impact of occurrences like this can be felt by players for a long time into the future.

“There’s too much risk and not enough consequence. Yes, it was an accident but he still smashed him in the head hard enough to knock him out and keep him off the field.”

Fittler insists his concerns are valid and that making players more accountable for these indiscretions will not reduce the physicality of the game.

“People fear that suspending players for these acts will make the game softer. I’ve been knocked out and knocked people out and for me it doesn’t make the game any tougher that a player faced no consequence for a high shot because it was an accident.

“I get nervous for the sport that one day it will be held accountable for these instances.”
