A bye round is usually a week where Fantasy coaches are forced to scrap together mediocre scores with the game's biggest names out of action. Not this week. Here are the success stories, flops and talking points to come out of this week's NRL Fantasy action.
Winners
There may have only been four games on this week but they produced some remarkable individual performances – with the obvious talking point being not one but two players smashing through the century barrier.
First up was the best score of the weekend – and actually of all time – with Rabbitohs back-rower Angus Crichton pulling off a remarkable 121 against the Gold Coast Titans. Crichton's rise from cash cow to keeper has been superb this season and he's now well and truly in the elite keeper bracket, thanks to a knack for finding the try-line that earned him a hat-trick this week and seven tries in his last seven games. He also made a dozen tackle breaks, four line breaks and 200 run metres against the Titans.
Crichton is now the most expensive player in Fantasy at a whopping $597,000 and will almost certainly top the $600,000 mark after his next game in Round 17.
Even more surprising was the performance of second-rower-turned-centre Kurt Capewell who made a monster 106 including two tries, four line breaks and 251 run metres against Wests Tigers.
Those stunning efforts overshadowed some excellent performances from forwards Jason Taumalolo (80), Paul Vaughan (77) and Elijah Taylor (76), while Clint Gutherson shifted to fullback for the Eels and scored two excellent tries on the way to 69 Fantasy points.
Storm stars Cameron Munster (62) and a revitalised Jesse Bromwich (61) both starred in their team's narrow escape over the Cowboys, while popular centre Curtis Scott (54) also did well in that game with a couple of tries, Paul Gallen (60) led the way in another tight win for the Sharks and Rabbitohs cash cow/potential keeper Tyrell Fuimaono (58) played the full 80 minutes after starting in the back row and produced easily his best score of the season.
Losers
A potentially serious knee injury to Eels hooker Kaysa Pritchard (14) was the worst news of the weekend, making him a trade this week.
Meanwhile one-time-keeper George Burgess (16) continued his quiet season on the Fantasy front, Bevan French (18) didn't get much to do after being shifted to the wing for the Eels, popular centre Moses Suli (20) also had a muted game for the Tigers, while four missed tackles and an error from Ryan James consigned him to a season-low score of 25 from 57 minutes.
