Frequently Asked Questions

Australian Rugby League Commission Limited (ARLC) and National Rugby League Limited (NRL) have developed the Past Player Health Screening and Referral Service (Service), which is available to eligible retired players.

How does the Service work?
Here is a quick overview of the step-by-step process:
Step 1 – Complete Registration form
Step 2 – Schedule an appointment with your General Practitioner (GP) to complete initial health screening and through the NRL Medical Coordinator, schedule an appointment with a dedicated Neuropsychologist.
Step 3 – GP and Neuropsychologist to return health screening documentation to NRL Medical Officers who will provide Past Player with further information about assessment and required appointments.
Step 4 – NRL Medical Officers to provide outcomes from the health screening and referral service to the Past Player and their GP. This appointment will confirm the plan for next steps and outline other rugby league support services.

How can I apply?
The first step is to complete the Registration Form.

Why should I engage with this service?
The purpose of the Service is to provide past players with access to a comprehensive clinical service which screens, assesses and provides outcomes for holistic health.

Am I eligible?
The Service will initially focus on Past Players who have played 1 or more game(s) in the NRL (or equivalent), the NRLW or represented the Kangaroos or Jillaroos in 1 or more game(s).

Has the Service launched yet?
Yes! The service has now launched.

What can I do to prepare for the service?
Prior to entering the service, we recommend connecting with your current or new General Practitioner and talking to a trusted person in your life who would be willing to support you through the process. The RLPA, Family of League or your NRL Club Alumni group may be able to assist with other health and wellbeing services available to past players.
