NSW coach Craig Bellamy says this year’s AAMI Country-City clash is one of the most important in history as Blues selectors begin deciding on the team to end Queensland’s four-year State of Origin winning streak.

The AAMI Country-City match will be played at Port Macquarie’s Regional Sports Stadium on Friday, May 7, with tickets on sale now at Panthers in Port Macquarie and from Ticketek (Only General Admission tickets are available from Ticketek).

With the NSW Aussie Blues desperate to end the Maroons’ recent dominance, Bellamy said the AAMI Country-City clash will be crucial in determining the make-up of his side for Game 1 of the Origin series at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on May 26.

“This is a chance for everyone involved to put their hand up and say ‘pick me for Origin’,” Bellamy said.

“Last year’s game showed how important Country-City is in determining who will play for the Blues. Laurie Daley (Country coach) is a NSW selector and (City coach) John Cartwright is one of the best coaches in the game and I will be getting all the feedback I can from them on who prepares and performs well in that match.

“Club form is always important but players need to show they can step up to the challenge of rep footy and City-Country is their chance to do that.”

The City and Country teams will be announced on Sunday, May 2.

Tickets for AAMI Country-City will be available through Ticketek on 132 849, at Ticketek outlets or online at www.ticketek.com.au.
