Whilst on the field the Parramatta Eels and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs might be struggling to recapture their strong 2009 form, off the field, the two clubs have continued to move forward in leaps and bounds when it comes to Memberships.
Leading the pack with 97% and 81% growth respectively, the two clubs have almost doubled their combined membership base to over 22,000, and have set the standard as club continue to battle it out for the NRL’s second membership prize for the biggest growth.
Further down the field the Wests Tigers have continued their strong start to the season with an impressive 57% growth from their 2009 numbers, whilst the Dragons, Sharks and Panthers have all increased their membership numbers by over a third.
Currently 12 of the 16 clubs have grown on their 2009 numbers, with the Roosters and Storm both on track to at least equal those figures. As a code, the NRL’s membership base has grown 24%, up from over 113,000 last year to now over 136,000 with more growth still to come.
