The opportunity to climb the representative ladder has taken on new meaning for the NSW City Origin side to be named at Campbelltown on Sunday.

The NSWRL today announced that Bailey Ladders had become the major sponsor of the City Origin side to play Country Origin at Port Macquarie on May 7 – the first step on the representative schedule for players aspiring to play State of Origin for the NSW Aussie Blues.

“It’s symbolic that a company such as Bailey Ladders is partnering with the City team when this match is the first step for many players towards higher representative honours,” NSWRL General Manager, Mr Geoff Carr, said today.

“The City team is an important pathway to State of Origin and we thank Bailey Ladders for coming on board and supporting that development.”

Mr Carr and City Origin coach John Cartwright will name the City Origin side to play Country Origin on Sunday afternoon at Campbelltown Stadium, following the announcement of the Australian side to play New Zealand in the VB Test in Melbourne on May 7.

Last season, Jarryd Hayne, Robbie Farah, Peter Wallace, Michael Jennings, David Williams, Luke O’Donnell, Craig Wing and Trent Waterhouse all played for NSW after representing City in their win over Country.

“Bailey Ladders are thrilled to be partnering with the City team in such an historic an important representative match in the City v Country game,” says Scott Douglas, Product Manager of Hills’ Home and Hardware Products division

“The game is seen as the most important trial match in selecting the NSW Blues players for the upcoming State of Origin series and City v Country has long played a part in NSW sporting history, with the first traces of the concept being linked back as far as 1886.

“Our employees and customers are excited about our involvement in this historical event and Bailey Ladders look forward to a successful ongoing partnership with the NSWRL following the match.”
