VB Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens says winning this year’s Four Nations tournament will be one of the great challenges of his decorated coaching career.

Sheens, who has won four Premierships and who coached Australia to victory in the inaugural Four Nations in the UK and France last year, will celebrate his 600th match as a first grade coach this Sunday – the day he names the team for the upcoming VB Test against New Zealand.

That experience has Sheens wary of the challenges that lie ahead for the VB Kangaroos this season, starting with the May 7 VB Test against New Zealand to open Melbourne’s AAMI Park, then the Four Nations with the Kiwis, England and Papua New Guinea starting in October.

“I know everyone expects Australia to win every time we play but the New Zealand team has never been stronger and England showed in last year’s final just how tough a team they are,” Sheens said.

“It’s going to be a great test for us to try and retain the Four Nations trophy and hopefully all Rugby League fans will come out in force and help us do that.

“We will be playing in front of a full house against New Zealand in Melbourne next month and it would be great to have that same level of support throughout the Four Nations.”
