Rugby League today announced a key strategic partnership with one of Australia’s leading sports and entertainment companies, SEL, to grow sponsorship opportunities across the NRL, ARL, NSWRL and CRL properties.

The National Rugby League Partnership (NRLP) has engaged Sports & Entertainment Limited (SEL), a company which has worked for some of the world’s leading sports and entertainment brands, as its exclusive sponsorship agent for the next three years, to assist in growing its existing sponsorship base as well as developing additional commercial opportunities.

Today’s announcement comes at a time when Rugby League is already enjoying record sponsorship interest, generating an additional $3million in revenue in the first quarter of 2010 alone.

“Sponsorship interest in Rugby League is incredibly strong and this strategic partnership with SEL allows us to focus on completing the sale of existing inventory and growing the program in the future,” said Mr Paul Kind, NRL Director of Marketing & Commercial.

“The NRL takes great pride in building long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with sponsors and our record of keeping sponsors for extended periods is proof of the value our program delivers.

“SEL will add a dedicated and experienced sales team who will complement the strategy of renewing and growing our existing partnerships.”

Already in 2010 the NRL has signed or re-signed sponsorship agreements with Keno, Coca-Cola, TAB Sportsbet, AAMI, Harvey Norman, Jetstar and the Australian Government through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

“We are excited about the opportunity to represent the NRL Partnership and its wide variety of sponsorship properties,” SEL Director, Mr Basil Scaffidi, said.

“We believe this is an ideal time to maximise the opportunities for the sport and we look forward to working with the NRLP to take its commercial program to the next level.”
