Newcastle Knights’ Toyota Cup coach Michael Crawley says it is great to see his team back in the winners circle after their 22-28 win over the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Before Sunday’s game the Knights had suffered two consecutive losses at the hands of Panthers and Dragons.

“It was good to get a win away from home, especially after having lost our last two games,” the coach explained.

One player who impressed Crawley during Sunday’s game is Lachlan Shipard who not only scored two tries but converted them also.

“With Chad Redman off the field I knew I could rely on Lachlan to kick for us,” Crawley said.

“I was actually more concerned about the kick from out front than the sideline one, he rates himself as a kicker and actually won the Grand Final for the SG Ball team last year.”

Crawley was also impressed with Adam Clydsdale who came off the bench for the Knights and Kurt Mann in fullback.

The fifth-placed Knights are back home this week and will play Crawley’s old team the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday night at Hunter Stadium.
