The Knights came from 18-0 down to beat the Warriors 24-19 in Round 20 of last season. The win at Mt Smart Stadium was the first by the Knights in Auckland for seven years. It was also the second straight loss for the Warriors in what would become an eight-game losing streak to finish the season.

It looked a case of how far the Warriors would win by after second-rower Feleti Mateo had used his tremendous skill to set up tries for Nathan Friend, Shaun Johnson and Ben Matulino within the first 20 minutes. But, rather than ram home their advantage, the Warriors began to cruise, and the Knights scored two tries to trail 19-12 at halftime.

The Knights kept coming in the second half, when centres Timana Tahu and Dane Gagai scored tries to complete the stunning turnaround.

Knights fullback Darius Boyd and five-eighth Jarrod Mullen engineered the win with great attacking games.
