South Sydney hard man George Burgess has pleaded guilty to a careless high tackle on Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco but will contest the Grade 2 rating in the hope of avoiding a one-game suspension.

Burgess was one of four players placed on report in the spiteful Friday night encounter, won by the Tigers 25-16.

Tigers forward James Gavet escaped suspension by pleading guilty to a Grade 1 detrimental conduct charge for his kneeing of Burgess in the 41st minute.

Rabbitohs centre Bryson Goodwin and back-rower Ben Te’o are also free to play with early guilty pleas to their respective Grade 2 and 1 careless high tackle charges from the match.

Manly prop Jason King will spend a week on the sidelines for a Grade 1 shoulder charge on young Eels forward Peni Terepo, while the Roosters' Kane Evans and Penrith’s Adam Docker were also charged with Grade 1 offences over the weekend but will not miss any game time with early guilty pleas.
