Sixteen former Panthers players spanning 30 years of the club’s proud history will take the field this Saturday in one of 2014’s biggest NRL Masters events.

Squad names include Col Bentley of the 1991Premiership winning side and NSWRL City Representatives (2001), Jody Gall and Brad Drew.

Hosted by St Marys Leagues Club, 14 teams from across Sydney will compete in the event which has been specifically designed with rules that cater for players who are over 35 years old and no longer wish to play competitively.

“The St Marys Carnival is further proof of the importance of the NRL Masters Program,” said Andrew Hill, NRL General Manager of League Integration and Game Development.

“This event will provide an opportunity for around 200 players to continue their involvement in the game in a safe and enjoyable manner.

“St Marys has always been a strong supporter of all forms of Rugby League and I’m sure this carnival will grow in size each year.”

The carnival will start at 11am when St Marys Green plays Moss Vale.

The participating teams are: St Marys Green, Moss Vale, Minchinbury, Colyton, Waratahs, Masters Touring Team, Panthers Invitational, Chester Hill, St Christopher’s, St Clair, Doonside, Gundagi, St Dom’s Old Boys and St Marys White.
