The NRL has paid tribute to Newtown great Brian 'Chicka' Moore, who died over the weekend following a long illness.
NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg said Moore, who played with Newtown from 1962 until 1973 and also coached the club in 1983, will be remembered as a legend of the Bluebags.
"Chicka was a player with an incredible try-scoring record," Mr Greenberg said. "In his 173 matches for Newtown, he scored 90 tries; that highlights what a player he was. In full flight, he was simply magnificent to watch.
"He was also a Kangaroo tourist and represented NSW, and then coached Newtown during its final year in the NSWRL.
"In 2008, he deservedly found a home at centre in Newtown's Team of the Century. He will be missed by the game which he served so magnificently."

He made his first grade debut for Newtown v Souths at Henson Park, June 30, 1962 (Rd 11).
He toured with the Kangaroos in 1967-68.
He captain-coached Toronto Workers 1974-75, coached Wests Newcastle 1976-77 and was the last coach of the Newtown Jets in the NSWRL premiership in 1983.
