Mitchell Dodds has breathed a huge sigh of relief after Broncos’ medical staff gave him the good news he was looking for.

The hard-hitting prop looked set for his third knee reconstruction in less than two years after coming off injured against the Eels in Round 8.

However he has been diagnosed with cartilage damage only, and will not require a season-ending surgery on his ACL.

When he felt his latest knee problem against the Eels, Dodds thought his year was going to end just like the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

"It is just great news," Dodds said on Tuesday.

"It is more of just a cartilage problem so hopefully I can be back on the field in six weeks."
