The NRL is calling on all Australians to help kick bowel cancer for good by taking a simple, 60-second online test to determine your risk.
June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, with the NRL having joined forces earlier this year with Bowel Cancer Australia, The Gut Foundation and Cancer Council NSW to continue the fight and eventually eradicate Australia's second biggest cancer killer.
About 15,000 new cases of bowel cancer are detected every year. Out of those cases, 4,000 people don't survive.
The NRL's 'Kick Bowel Cancer' campaign was recently launched, with thousands of people having already taken a quick self-assessment online test at nrlkickbowelcancer.com.au
NRL CEO Dave Smith said he hoped thousands more people - and not just league lovers - would log on to possibly save their own life and the lives of their family and friends.
"Almost everyone has had or will have some connection to a form of cancer in their lifetime and the more we can do to ensure early detection, the better," said Smith.
"We're delighted that so many of our players and supporters have already joined the campaign to kick bowel cancer."
