The next batch of Australia's elite schoolboy rugby league talent will face off from Sunday, July 5, for the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League (ASSRL) National under-18 Championships south of Sydney.

The under-18s Championships will be played at Collegians Rugby League Club at Figtree from Sunday until Friday 10 July.

Six teams will compete in the Championships, the best players from the Affiliate States combining to compete against the strength of NSW and QLD.

An Australian Schoolboys team will be selected following the tournament to play a two-Test series against New Zealand this September in Brisbane.

The under-18s championships follows the successful ASSRL under-15s championships held in St Marys last month, won by Queensland.

"Many of our past and present NRL and Representative Players have progressed through the ASSRL system," the NRL's general manager league integration and game development Andrew Hill said.

"In fact, the 2014 Kangaroos Four Nations squad boasted no less than 11 players who were former Australian Schoolboys.

"This is the latest group of players to come through this system so it will be an important week for the game."

In addition to the Rugby League matches throughout the week, all players and team staff will participate in welfare and education sessions delivered by the NRL.
