The Bulldogs caused the Eels to crash back down to earth after their dominant display as winger Curtis Rona showed for the first time he was going to be a try-scoring beast this season. The Panthers put on a show in Bathurst by sinking the Gold Coast by 40 while the Wests Tigers furthered the Dragons' woes. The round's most remembered game came on Sunday afternoon when the Rabbitohs held off a fast-finishing Roosters team while also scoring an early-season contender for try of the year when Greg Inglis and Alex Johnston capped off a ridiculous 100-metre movement to score. Up north the Cowboys were livid by the Knights' treatment of Johnathan Thurston in Newcastle's unlikely win.
