The Sun-Herald City2Surf, presented by Westpac, have added a few extra runners to the event this year, with the National Rugby League (NRL) confirmed as a partner for the run.

NRL ambassadors and former players Ben Ross and Dan Hunt will join NRL staff as part of the run, with Ross and Hunt raising funds and awareness for The Full Stop Foundation, the Foundation for Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia.

NRL Marketing Manager – Operations and Partnerships, Nicole Chesher, said she was delighted to see Rugby League represented alongside one of Australia’s most popular and iconic community events.

"One of our NRL community pillars focuses on health, so the opportunity for a few of our former players and now ambassadors of the game to support the City2Surf made sense," said Ms Chesher.

"I know that Ben and Dan are looking forward to the run and to helping raise money for their local charities and I am sure that there will be plenty of league fans joining them in the run this year."

Head of Sport at Fairfax Events, Chris Secker, said he was excited for the event to welcome three of the NRL’s biggest names as part of the new partnership.

"We’re delighted to partner with the NRL for this year's City2Surf. Both the NRL and City2Surf highly value the support of the local community and for that reason, the alignment makes perfect sense," Secker said.

"It's great to have Alan, Ben and Dan on board as ambassadors as they have all had very distinguished careers at the top level of rugby league and are representing causes close to them and in turn helping us to raise $5 million for charity."

Entry to the City2Surf will remain open until Saturday 13th August, with single tickets starting at just $85 for an adult, while prices for children under 15 are available from $60 - an additional $10 saving from 2015 entry prices.
