Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco scored a great solo try against the Cowboys.

Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco is expected to miss four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his fractured jaw.

Tedesco suffered the injury in a tackle from Titans forward Ryan James in Saturday's one-point loss to the Gold Coast and is aiming to return in the NRL finals series if the Tigers make it that far.

"The surgery was originally meant for Wednesday but it was moved forward to last night, and we spoke to the specialist who said he had to put some hardware in there," Wests Tigers physiotherapist Peter Moussa said.

"It was a nasty break, but he's confident it'll be about four to six weeks."
